Background

In the olden days (maybe even as 10 years ago) the general method was to construct a school timetable manually on the board of choice.

The school timetable board : this was a permanent fixture and was usually made out of wood according to the number off days and periods and classes. This port was usually quite big measuring 3 m x 1 m according to the school size. 

The subject cards : often the school timetable planning was done (the subjects and who will teach each subject) cards were made for each of the Reverend periods.

E.g. Mr. Smith workload walls as follows:

English 7 periods per class for the following three classes : Gr8 A , Gr8 B , Gr8 C

it is also common practice to make the different subjects different colors for easier distinction from a distant view.

Cards were then made for each of these 21 periods as below:
